Hetzner: http://hetzner.de/rootserver.html CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ (2x2.8 GHz) RAM: 2 GB DDR2 RAM HDD: 2 x 400 GB SATA II Network: 100 MBit when < 1000GB/month, 10MBit when "substantially above" 1000GB. Optionally 100MBit + 0.09€/GB above 1000GB OS: Lots. Probably anything we need. Other: /29 Subnet, 50GB Backup space Price: 49€/month, 99€ setup fee min. lease: none I have a dedicated server at Hetzner for about 3 1/2 years and my experience with them has been quite good. There have been some outages (some announced some unnanounced), but all in all uptime has been well above 99.9% (though they only guarantee 99%). Support is good from my experience and from what I can glance from the support forums. Disadvantage is the limitation to 10MBit if we exceed 1TB/month (unless we want to pay for it). OTOH it's quite cheap (even if you include the setup fee) and there's no minimum lease time. Regarding the other hosters (that I know about): 1&1: I don't like the long min. lease times. But they have a decent network (or at least had a few years ago). Strato: Expensive, long min. lease time. Had a bad reputation, but I haven't heard about any major catastrophes in the last two years. server4you: Crappy network & service when I was there. But again, that's been a few years ago. The ovh offer looks looks quite good, too. If we can get enough money, I'd probably choose that one. Regards, Moritz -- | Moritz Goebelbecker / Aber die Zeit ist Leben.
