Hi everybody!
I just wanted to tell you that I currently plan to release 1.9.0 on Monday,
right together with the end of the official coding time for GSOC. This will be
the first release of the development tree. Yes, this is really late compared to
previous development cycles. Main reason for this is to allow larger and more
groundbreaking changes without enforcing that they are directly 100% usable
which is more or less the case when releasing a dev release basically every
three to four weeks after the stable series is started. Hopefully this works out
nicely and 1.9.0 will directly be rather usable with plenty new features.

As always with releases: if there is anything that should stop me from tagging
1.9.0 on Monday, please do notify me.

Also make sure to add your "really important stuff" (especially changes that are
also related to packaging like eg the removal of the dep to lua or version bumps
in dependencies) to the files RELEASE_NOTES. If you got some great new feature,
please make sure to list it in there, too (basically all GSOC projects fall in
this category!). It would be really kind of you if you made sure that your
changes are listed in the changelog(s), too.

Cheers,
Nils Kneuper aka Ivanovic
