Just one note of caution. I am sure everyone has thought of this, but here
goes.

If you are trying to send an alert via email that the email server is down,
then you will need to use some other type of alert like simple text paging.
Also, this would apply for any routers or switches between the mail servers
and the internet, or between the Whatsup gold box and the mail server.

It is sometimes best to state the obvious, or at least what you personally
feel is obvious.

We make custom recipients for each of our pagers with email access. If the
pager belongs to Jon Doe, then it is much easier to remember
[EMAIL PROTECTED] when sending a page, compared to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Just setup a new custom recipient with the pager email address and the
outside address. Then, when a message comes from the SMTP client in Whatsup
to the IMC in Exchange, it simply sends it back out the other address. You
can then hide the address from the GAL so that only people that know the
naming scheme will be able to send to the pagers.

I have configured WUG to send email notifications out, to users on my staff,
if routers or switches go down. Works just fine.

We now have pagers that accept text emails. For instance,
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'm having problems with WUG sending emails to the "outside" world.

I'm running Exchange 5.5 with SP4.

I need to configure my exchange server to relay the messages from the
WhatsUpGold server to the outside world.

Any ideas on how I can do that??

Thank-you.
