We use
WUG to monitor our servers and set it up to page/sene text messages to our
Nextel hand phone.
Here's
the set up that we do.
We use
the TAP protocol, and the number to call is xxx-yyy-NOTE(6623) where xxx is
your area code, yyy is the first threee digit of the Nextel phone.
The
pager ID is your pager number.
e.g your
pager number is 123-456-7890, the Nextel TAP number is 123-456-6623 and the
pager ID is 123-456-7890.
We use
the following string (%c %n %v %u IP %a) which shows the server name, IP
address, service that's up or down, date and time.

No, I am
still working on this issue; I have been told that I need to get the terminal
number from Nextel to transfer the analog data, but Nextel does not seem to
have a clue of what I am referring to. If you get your issue solved before I
do, please let me know.
Thanks
Kevin

I am
having this same problem with the pager. I am using Nextel. Is
there a terminal number that I need to get from Nextel that is not the same as
the paging number from a landline. If anyone is using a Nextel phone for
the paging service ( not the email text) the please reply and let me know how
you have this setup.

You'd actually want to edit a pager notification
device, not a beeper. For the number you need to put in a phone
number that corresponds to your service; it is generally NOT the pager
number. You can call your provider if you don't have this (I called arch
to get mine). The pager id is then just the pager phone
number. I used the default dial string.
BTW, this provided a use for one of about thirty
old decommissioned 14.4 modems...I knew there was a reason for saving them! :^)

Forum] Help with using modem.
Hello.
I need some help with making use of
a modem in WUG.
I am running WUG 7.04 on a dedicated
Dell 1650 server. I have installed a PCI modem into this server.
I have a pager that accepts text
emails. I'd like to configure WUG to send a message to this pager via the
modem.
1.Can WUG with
an internal pci modem or does it need to be an external modem connected to my
com port?
2.When editing
the beeper notification, what do I put for a beeper number?
3.What should
the dial string look like?
4.What do I
put for a com port if I'm using an internal pci modem?
Thanks for all your assistance.
