Title: Monitoring NT Services
We are monitoring ClearSwift Content MailSweeper delivery, receiver, and security services. Below are the custom NT service monitors in the Services.ini file.

[Mail Sweeper Delivery]
CLSID={87B0F902-CF8A-11D2-9CC8-0040053DDA73}
SERVICENAME=SMTPDS
RESTART=0

[Mail Sweeper Receiver]
CLSID={87B0F902-CF8A-11D2-9CC8-0040053DDA73}
SERVICENAME=SMTPRS
RESTART=0

[Mail Sweeper Security]
CLSID={87B0F902-CF8A-11D2-9CC8-0040053DDA73}
SERVICENAME=SMTPSS
RESTART=0

Be sure that the WhatsUp Gold service account has Admin rights over the mail sweeper server. You may still encounter some issues. These services may still appear to be up when WhatsUp Gold polls using the net service verification check, however, the mailsweeper may not actually be delivering or receiving messages because of a application problem. Typically what we have observed is a corrupt message in the queue or the server is no longer listening or accepting additional connections using TCP 25 (SMTP).

I would recommend also setting up a test connection using TCP 25 to verify that the server is taking connections.

Good luck.

Jon

Subject: [WhatsUp Forum] Monitoring NT Services

Hi,

Has anyone managed to monitor the MailSweeper Delivery, Receiver and Security services? They always register as down as soon as I start monitoring them…

Any help, ideas, suggestions welcomed!

TIA
A.
