Hi all,
I need to move to another city due to a job related need. The move is for 6 months. I will not have access to my broadband provider in the other city so I will have to get an account with some other ISP. my parents will still be here so I will keep this broadband connection. I'm subscribed to a lot of mailing lists so do not want to go through the hassle of switching e-mail addresses again. as you know, receiving mail is not a problem. Sending mail however remains a challenge. I have tried Eudora's relay personality technique and it has worked when I've tested here with another ISP. However I cannot guarantee that this will work in the other city since I do not know what policies the other ISP will have. For instance, the ISP could block all mail that does not have a from address assigned by that isp.
the only viable solution seems to be to get an account with a provider which would let me send using any from address. It could authenticate via ssl or user name and password. I know, I have asked this before on the list. I read the archives. At that time I had thought of running my own SMTP server. This is not doable I do not have a static IP address and the not have a machine to run the server on.
I would also like to be able to configure the server to except a connection from any port. I may have to use such a feature in case the ISP blocks port twenty five. I have spoken to my ISP and they recommend using the Web mail interface. I do not like the web mail interface and in any case, I prefer popping my e-mail
Are there any providers who would provide such services? or are there any options that I am not considering?
