I did, and nothing changed.

Probably because you have System Restore turned on. It un-changes most everything that you change so if you're un-hiding what MSFT hide then System Restore re-hides it again. <lol> Most people don't know it but SysRes only works for the system & not for ones data files anyway so to me it's completely worthless. Only viruses can get around SysRes. I can't count the # of times I've had to turn that POS off so I cleanup what a virus has done.

Come on, fly without a net & trust me. <rotflmao>

Now you mention CD. Looks like I'm gonna have to dig that
sucker up.

My wife found the "Restore" discs for "her" machine. Her system
looks totally different than mine, but it's running XP Home.

She also found a "programs and Drivers" CD for 98/WE/2000/XP.

Where do we go from here?

You don't want to use her disk on your computer, especially if it's a restore disk unless it has an i386 folder. I'm sure the Programs and Drivers disk is for her machine as well & if anything on that disk works on yours it'll be merely a coincidence. If her disk has a i386 folder then you may be able to use it otherwise play with your own disk.
