I prefer top post myself to me it only seems natural in normal e-mail
communication. Responding line per line sounds as if a person is either
itemizing
,scrutinizing, questioning or pointing out some fact in lieu of what was or
is being said good or bad depending on the choice of ones words and tone
that the response conveys.

Responses in a line by line chain is akin to trying to talk face to face in
a real conversation which is like trying to IM without the realtime
interaction which doesn't make it instant at all unless if you just bounce
e-mail back in forth in short one line comments as fast as one can read and
type.

But again to each his/her/their own.

I have no problem with a top post as long as the people that use top post
don't try to respond line by line of quoted unquoted quoted unquoted etc etc
without something to differentiate which is which. I just believe that we
out to live within the boundaries of the email client that we adopt.
