Ah!

Now we know your real problem -

Not so much that your copy of the file cannot be opened
More that there is no other 'Valid' copy.

In That case you could try OpenOffice
that manages to open, and process many files that Excel considers corrupt,
or unreadable

OpenOffice is free - download it from one of the regular repository sites on
the web

I'm sure that at least on other contributor to this forum will be able to
suggest where to get it from, and confirm, or refute my suggestion that
Openoffice may be able to read the file despite Excel having decided it is
not to be touched
