Darn, I just renewed my domain with GoDaddy.com for $8.95.
Incidentally, if you don't care about web hosting (I don't), it is
still a good thing to have email under your own domain name,
thus never having to worry about changing your email address.
You can pair the $2.99 Yahoo domain registration with free DNS
from ZoneEdit.com, which also gets you unlimited domain email
forwarding. If you need POP email, you can forward to Gmail
accounts.
