I think the problem is that we're talking about two *separate* things.
Quicken has a notion of a 'recurring' payment, which is really just a

In order to keep down confusion and the chance of a double order going in to initiate a bank transaction, I access my bank account via its online link using my browser, not with Quicken. I manually post each transaction in Quicken as I make it. I access my bank accounts daily and there is a column in Quicken where I enter a "c" for completed transaction each time I see a transaction has been posted at my bank. I guess you could compare my way of doing business to driving a vehicle with a stick shift instead of an automatic transmission. It gives the user more control. I could go on and on explaining why I like to manually initiate processes in Windows such as virus checks and defragmentation etc.

Back to Quicken. When I first discovered that Quicken could communicate with my bank and post entries I knew that this did not meet my goals and objectives. Again, I want my posts in Quicken to be immediately, as I initiate each transaction, not later, when the bank posts the transaction. When I manually post I enter the information as I wish. If I allowed the bank to post it, they would enter the information as they wish.
