If you want to edit boot.ini, you don't need recovery console. You can do that with (Start/Run) sysdm.cpl / Advanced / (Startup and Recovery) / Settings / Edit Recovery console functions are described in match #1 here: http://www.google.com/search?q=recovery+console+commands (check out "bootcfg") Generally speaking, you should only be in Recovery Console when you know what needs fixing and Recovery Console is the only way to fix it.
