Something to check is the type of PCMCIA slot in the PC.
I have an old Toshiba laptop which has type I slots (& a D-Link NIC/modem
card), but it will not accept the more recent type II cards (your PC
probably will be OK here).
You also have the choice of wifi or wired adapters (+ modem).

This computer was not set up with any built-in networking stuff. Is there
