It could also be a bios thing with the newer MOBOs. the one on this machine is
a Gigabyte 8KNXP
with SATA, SATA RAID, PATA RAID (x2 sockets), PATA (2 usual sockets) and the
proverbial FLOPPY.

The only way I can get to use the SATA drive is to use the Gigabyte CD after XP
is installed - F6
just ignores what I want to do like - installe the SATA drivers from the CD -
perhaps they are just
"Windows" software and won't run in the installation routine?

BTW - Wayne.... You mentioned a Gigabyte MOBO similar to this (mine has the P4
@ 3.2Ghz) with the
AMD 64 939 pin socket.

I have just bought a Gigabyte MOBO with a 3400 CPU "GA-K8NS-pro" -

AMD Athlon 64 3400+ S754 512M cache

2x512MB matched pair Corsair DDR Memory

Gigabyte S754 motherboard GA-K8NS pro

An ATI Radeon 9800pro 128MB AGP graphics card

480W power supply

Any good?
