If Microsoft wanted to be a ISP, why not be a simple one that requires
no software like many are? No, Microsoft had to develop MSN and have
software. You can configure your Windows dialer to dial in to MSN and
bypass their software. This keeps them on my good list of ISP's, unlike
AOL etc. who require you to install their software.

They are bad because they require software, but they are good because
