Agreed, McAfee is crap. Ditto for Norton

Notwithstanding their high ratings from pcworld

That's been my experience with McAfee, the first thing I do when I see it on
a machine is remove it.

I run a mix of Norton (will be removed from last machine once the update
license expires), Zone Alarm (Pro and Security Suite) and Trend Micro's PC
Cillin Internet Security 2006.

I particularly like the Trend Suite as it's VERY LIGHT on system resources
and doesn't popup an insane number of alerts like Zone Alarm does. PC-Cillin
has a few issues (see below) particularly the fact that their add on antispam
component ONLY runs on XP. This is the component that integrates with OE or
Outlook.

Zone Alarm is both great and awfull. Great in general, awfull with their
osfirewall feature which pops up an insane number of alerts for innocuous
stuff.

See Part 2 for my comments on PC-Cillin, this was sent to my circle of
consultants and other geeks.
