BTW you did go through this Q&A with me before. Back in May. That time there was one XP Pro and one XP Home.
If you want to share printers between XP Pro and XP Home without supplying a password, then enable SFS on XP Pro. If you want to keep XP Pro w/SFS disabled, then script the NET USE and run it automatically on logon on XP Home. Make sure that /persistent:no is in effect when that command is run. On my main system: XP/Pro, two accts, admin w/password, random user/limited, no password. AND: I have "guest accounts" *enabled*. I would like to share that system's printer with the other computers around her [my and my wife's laptops and my wife's desktop, at the least]. So far, I cannot find a way to do that that doesn't seem to require that I go through a dialogue that asks me for my admin password. Is that inevitable [if so, that's a *REAL* shame and would make this windows setup the ONLY such system I've ever seen that won't let you set up a simple print-server!]? Or [more likely] do I have something amiss. I'm happy to "start over" on my desktop system if there's some incantation or something that'll make this work beter: in addition to the printer I also have two filesystems shared, and I don't really mind that I need my admin password to "mount" one of them, but there, too: it'd be nice to make a "public" filesystem available to the other systems on my at-home LAN, but, again, I don't see how to share-filesystem-without- password [so if you iknow how to do THAT, too, that'd be great! :o)] Thanks! /Bernie\ -- ---------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, mailto: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Is your picture included in the Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page? http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html If not, write to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- ---------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, mailto: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Is your picture included in the Official Win-Home List Members Profiles Page? http://www.besteffort.com/winhome/Profiles.html If not, write to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
