The problems I have with Norton Utilities are:
1.  They are incredibly resource-hungry

2.  Symantec is not at all user-friendly in terms of support.

3.  Their download policy of products which you purchase is disgusting.  Even 
if you have the base level install utility, if you suffer a system crash, after 
a certain period of time you cannot download the product you bought any more, 
so bang goes your installation.

That, in my view, is not the right way to treat your customers.  In view of 
this last problem in particular, I stay away from Symantec's software products.

Of course, Symantec is taking over the world in terms of security products in 
general.  For instance, they hav recently acquired two certificate signing 
authorities, GeoTrust being one of them.  GeoTrust is the second largest 
provider of security signing products behind Verisign.  Thaut, (think I spelled 
that correctly) is the third largest.  GeoTrust's operations, thank goodness, 
have not changed, and their technical support is still excellent.  That's why 
we continue to use that company for our SSL signing products.  However, I am 
continually watchful as I will change to another non-Symantec owned company if 
the support policies change.

Anyway, back to the topic under discussion.  Naturally it's always interesting 
to hear about people's experience of these things, and if the product has 
changed in terms of its interaction with other products and with the operating 
systems, so much the better.  it is also true to say that one can make a system 
level backup these days, so if the system breaks it should be easy to roll it 
back and not have to worry about the downloading of the software.  So yes, that 
assertion could be slightly superfluous now.  However, speaking from a personal 
perspective, we have a lifetime license for another product and it really 
couldn't be much better to be honest.  It doesn't keep popping up with needless 
windows as some other products of its kind do.   It just sits there and gets on 
with its job.  So, Norton would have to be blazingly good for me personally to 
consider switching.

No, you can't use the Tab key to get around but you can use your WE Cursor or 
the JAWS cursor etc to navigate the screen and find out what all the options, 
functions and settings are, as you move you'll hear brief help messages 
pertaining to each function you move to.

Will I buy Norton Utilities 15? Its a bit too early to say but I'll certainly 
be interested to play with the software for the remaining 30 days.  If I do 
decide to buy then the $50.00 price tag certainly won't break the bank.
