We placed the link to our on-boarding tool on the guest user captive portal. We don't have dedicate on-boarding SSID, just utilize the guest SSID.

The clear winner for us was the SecureW2 cloud solution. They also have a locally hosted solution if that is your preference. They are very customer focused. If you file a support ticket for something they cannot currently do, they automatically submit a feature request for consideration. I strongly recommend you look at their product offering.
