All, I appreciate seeing everyone's experience with Radius and performance. I ended up spending a lot of time looking at performance issues with Clearpass and AD. I was able to track my issues to AD server slowing down under heavy load. The most frustrating part of the investigation was trying to determine what the AD server was doing. I ended up parsing the CPPM logs for auth times and using packet captures. But this was a lot of work and not something I could easily teach to my operations staff.
Has anyone come up with a good way to monitor AD servers and to tune them?. Airwave and Clarity helped but couldn't pinpoint the issues or which servers were having issues. We did a trial of Voyance by Nyansa which give us better metrics. We ended up purchasing Voyance which lead to better troubleshooting of wireless client issues. In which most of the wireless client issues were RADUIS related. ********** Participation and subscription information for this EDUCAUSE Constituent Group discussion list can be found at http://www.educause.edu/discuss. ********** Participation and subscription information for this EDUCAUSE Constituent Group discussion list can be found at http://www.educause.edu/discuss.
