i will take a spare 15v 3amp spare smps, connect the output to 2 unused pairs (at point A). the TP is 100m long -at the other end (point B) i will use a linear regulator 7805. i intend to use the output to power a Linksys wap11 v2.2. question: at point A, shall i connect the negative wire also to the earthing? what would happen, pros, cons? the idea is to minimize the lightening induced surges developped in the TP. i will not anything with the 2 other pairs used for ethernet, as i have not seen any affordable solution. any suggestion would be most welcome.
