The issue here about reverse engineering Broadcom Linux device drivers from MIPS to Intel may not be covered by the GPL. IANA-GPL-L but I would have thought binary device drivers could be shipped for Linux without requiring access to source. Which would make this separate from any GPL infringement for the rest of the system. So the relationship between the drivers and the proprietary hardware might well fall under DMCA.


But this is all speculation at the moment.
