I don't see the simplicity at all. If you want to reboot a device remotely from a cell phone then I can see the simplicity and point you to a cheap solution. If you want to managed a variety of different devices with a variety of management interfaces and be able to manage every part of them then I don't see any simplicity. The difference between the former and the later is the discreteness of the task.
