Well, I seen this situation of needing spares a long time ago, that's why I choose to standardize all my towers on one platform so I only have to stock enough routerboards for 1 full tower. Then that way it doesn't matter which tower gets hit, I at least have the same boards on them all so my spares all fit the same. I have 12 towers and If any one of them goes down I can get back online if I need to with a few RB433's and a half dozen R52's.

Would allow you to swap out stuff on a temp or permanent basis. The key point is to be aware of your 'in-service' equipment, and 'spares' inventory, and evaluate on a regular periodic basis.
