About my mail, I was in the supermarket. I tried to say that remove the non-linux code is not good idea. Why? because this (dirty) code could be updated, you only need put the OS dependent code in different files, and then load this code using the preprocessor.
Then, you can continue working with the OS independent code, and with the linux code. If other developers are interested in the non-linux code probably they can help you.
