Yes I was getting some grief from one of the large venders about openID Connect being based on JSON because it is not a standard like XML.
They were just being general prats about IPR things. However at some point someone (not JOSE) should look at the overall status of the JSON stack. It is not a prerequisite for any JOSE work however.
