Hi Bob, The message "CALL3.TXT very short (N = xx) or missing?" was introduced to warn a user that s/he is attempting a hinted decode when the list of considered hypothetical messages is very small. The (rather arbitrary) cutoff number is 10.
For a knowledgeable user the message can be annoying and anyway is superfluous. Perhaps it should be omitted entirely, in production code? Its original motivation was to discourage naive users from messing around with hinted decoding on the HF bands, where it is not appropriate. -- 73, Joe, K1JT On 11/2/2016 5:58 AM, Charles Suckling wrote: > Hi Bob > > There was a discussion about this a while back, and if I recall > correctly a “safe” number of entries is approximately 10. > > 73 > Charlie G3WDG > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > *From:*Bob Thornton [mailto:bob.thorn...@ntlworld.com] > *Sent:* 02 November 2016 09:24 > *To:* wsjt-devel@lists.sourceforge.net > *Subject:* Re: [wsjt-devel] call3.txt > > I think the problem here is the error message that is being generated if > call3.txt is considered too short.
