It is browser dependant whether the page is re-requested or not.

There a Javascript link in the page that you get when you cancel a
request that will take you back two pages.  This must be done in
Javascript though so that the history list in the browser is currectly
updated.

The solution that I use is to use Galeon as my browser, enable tabbed
browsing and use the middle mouse button to open the page in a new
tab.  This means that I never have to see the "Request Recorded" page
or press the back button.  I just have to close the tabs which I can
do at the end of the offline browsing session.
