Hi Eric, hi wx-users,

I also would like to know what Eric had in mind when talking about
Catalyst back-end.

I didn't write that part of the idea. I think catalyst has some kind of Wx tie-in, but I'm not exactly sure what it means (I would have to ask the catalyst person who made that edit and/or do some reading.) Perhaps a "webmin" app in catalyst would be able to share a lot of code with a Wx GUI?

That whole idea text was mine, actually. Essentially, with "Catalyst backend", I meant a client/server setup where the server -- tentatively written using Catalyst -- does all the actual work and the client is either a normal web browser or a dedicated web-app runner as the Mozilla folks are advertising.

This being the wx-users list, however, I'd like to express that a local GUI is most likely much, much easier and probably hits the typical use case better, too.

The project idea was originally Adam Kennedy's. He wanted such an installer for Strawberry/Chocolate-Perl for win32. He also favours Wx.

Cheers,
Steffen
