I would guess it is partly related to the amount of work the wx 
developers do on the python implementation.  Or maybe there are more 
similarities between python and C++.

But maybe it depends on who you ask.  Some people will proudly claim to 
be unable to understand Perl but I suspect they haven't really tried 
much either.
