I do not currently have access to that machine (I've left work), but I did try 'ls -le' before I left (before I had seen your message) and it came up with something along the lines of 'no one is permitted to delete' which explains why I wasn't able to use the 'rm' command

Out of curiosity, what does `ls -lde@ /Users/amy/Library/Logs/X11` return? (The + on the permissions indicates that either extended attributes or ACLs exist on it; -e shows ACLs, -@ shows extended attributes.)
