I contend that there is documentation which should be considered
common between Xalan-J and Xalan-C (and Xalan-other, if someone
wants to do another language). The sensible place to put it is
xml-xalan/docs, a directory which already exists. If you want to
empty out that directory for a few weeks, purging the so-called
Xalan-J1 docs, that's fine with me. But don't nuke the directory;
plan on migrating shared docs out of xml-xalan/[flavor]/docs into
there.
I think the reason we currently have two separate sets of docs
is that we had to, because we had messed up our file tree and had
no way to share the common components. That doesn't mean that we
really wanted to have two copies of the same file in two trees.
We need to hear from Don on this subject.
How samples got to be so flavor-specific is another question. If
someone wants to blend these, send a plan to this list.
