At home this evening I followed the instructions on the Ubunto howto and am
still not able to get the motif packages... Good news is that I was able to
get gdal built via get-maptools.sh after following the howto steps.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/src/HAM/xastir$ sudo apt-get install libmotif-dev
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Package libmotif-dev is not available, but is referred to by another
package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
  lesstif2-dev lesstif-dev
E: Package libmotif-dev has no installation candidate
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/src/HAM/xastir$ sudo apt-get install libmotif3
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package libmotif3
