psh requires xCAT for several reasons. xCAT established the SSL credentials when installed. It also uses xCAT to expand noderanges. It is a small script though which if free for you to make a new one and remove the dependencies. As Russell suggests there are other parallel dsh scripts already published also, which you can use.
