Dear Thang Pham,

Thanks for your input.

We have the entries for all the following,

Worker server :

VSMREQIN,VSMREQI6,VSMREQIM, VSMREQIU,VSMPROXY

Request Server :

VSMWORK1, VSMWORK2, VSMWORK3

1) Do we need to add VSMGUARD also ?

2) Is it enough to just login to the servers for bringing them up ( By
doing this have we started the server ) ?

3) How do we provide Directory Manager authority to worker server ?

4) We have not did the step -1 yet in

http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=XCAT_zVM_Setup#Configuring_z.2FVM.2C_SMAPI.2C_and_DirMaint

we configured DirMaint and now working on SMAPI. Can we do that step 1
after doing this ?

Kindly provide your valuable thoughts to the above queries.

Thanks and Regards,

zVM 6.1

Since you have the default user entries, there is nothing more for you to
do. You just need to authorized the zHCP for DirMaint and SMAPI access
(step 3-5 in
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=XCAT_zVM_Setup#Configuring_z.2FVM.2C_SMAPI.2C_and_DirMaint
).

You can view any user entry by:
1. Request the directory entry
==> DIRM FOR <userid> GET
2. Open the reader
==> RDR
3. Find the file based on its user ID and hit F11 to peek at it.

Hi Team,

We have the following user entries in USER DIRECT before configuring
Dirmaint as specified in the sourceforge website.

VSMWORK1,VSMWORK2,VSMWORK3 & VSMREQIN,VSMREQI6,VSMREQIM, VSMREQIU , b

Please help us with the following questions.
1. Do we need to create the same for VSMGUARD like
VSMWORK1,VSMWORK2,VSMWORK3 ?
2. Can we create use the same dirm add command for making this server
entry ?
3. How do we view this using dirmaint command ?
4. How do we provide Directory Manager authority to worker server ?
5. How to start these servers and how to use Check Authentication command
to verify the server?

Thanks in advance.

Documentation on how to configure SMAPI, DirMaint, and the zHCP are
documented on the xCAT wiki:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/xcat/index.php?title=XCAT_zVM_Setup#Installation_of_zHCP
.

On there, there is a link to an IBM InfoCenter page which details how to
setup the SMAPI worker machines.

implementation in zVM 6.1

Dear Team,
We are trying to implement xCAT in our zVM 6.1 environment .
We have installed xCAT in a Linux image
We have configured DirMaint
Now we are trying to Install and configure SMAPI but unable to proceed
further.
We refered the available Red books in public domain including

z/VM: Directory Maintenance Facility Commands Reference
z/VM: Directory Maintenance Facility Tailoring and Administration Guide
z/VM: Directory Maintenance Facility Messages

Is it fine if we implement it in the below way :

we have define the request and worker server (This comes during
installation )
Authuorization for request server comes by default in zVM 6.1 so we need
to provide DirMaint authority to worker server, if so how do we give he
authorization.
Following this just starting the server by logging in to VSMWORK1.
