Is any other port set to access vlan 415, or is it only otherwise present on
trunk ports? There may be a defect where we fail to pick up a Cisco vlan if it
only has trunk ports. I don't know we have that problem, just guessing
something that seems plausible based on my recollection of when I wrote the
Cisco code (the other switch vendors need only standard mib)

Hi Ling,

I wish it was that simple but unfortunately not. The mgt node is plugged into
port 45 and port 43 currently doesn't have anything plugged into it.

Hi Nick,
Maybe port 43 is the port that connects to the xCAT management node?

Subject: [xcat-user] Discovery question
________________________________

Hi xcatters,

I am currently working with switch discovery of compute nodes connected to a
Cisco 3750 switch.

I had originally only configured the ports on the switch that actually had
something plugged into them and then tried to do a discovery. The attached file
is the configuration of the ports that i started with

Watching the messages log i found the following message
Sep 7 18:31:58 mgt xcat[80098]: Error communicating with ms-h25-mgtobm-1g-40:
Unable to get MAC entries via either BRIDGE or Q-BRIDE MIB

After 3 days of frustration and going round and round in circles i found that
if i set
    switchport access vlan 415
on port 1/0/43 all of a sudden the discovery starts working.

I have no idea why and can't explain this. If anyone could shed some light on
what is special about port 43 or the configuration of it i would be most
appreciative.

Thanks for your help in advance
