Hi John,
Note that I was recently hit by a lib BSD problem (as reported). `make
clean' was not enough to get back to a simple "tar xzvf" state of a new
installation. The fact was that I had already run the configure program that
made some config.* files, which any further `./configure' (after a make
clean) used as cached info. And, if you are using this with a upgraded linux,
that eventually causes problems. As I found out to several hours (and a few
emails) cost.
I did not have problems with Nedit, although I note it throws a tantrum in
2.4.19 slackware (but not fatal). I am currently running multiple
versions of linux. {sound of what remains of hair being torn out.}
Nedit is not unique in this tantrum throwing, i.e. some reported error but
the program runs. There does seem to have been a change at the point of
2.4.x linux which existing code cannot support; but does not prevent
either. I'd like to know what.
But I declare an interest - or rather complete lack of knowledge. In all
this I'm working at extreme edge of my knowledge. Where I can do
something closer to my core knowledge, I have no hesitation in sticking
my oar in. So while I cannot illuminate your opera program problem per se,
I might, by the techniques of engineers ("don't force it, use a larger
hammer"), I might point a feeble light in the right direction.
Anyway, I think that I have the simulate 3 buttons feature installed for
this pointer. I say, "I think", it's late here, and I cannot find the
relivent file to check the configuration... But I think that was what I
selected.

David Pilgram.
