There was an EMPTY mailproc.tab file in the user directory. The creation of
the file was enforced by one of the interface software I used (I can't
remember which one).

I deleted it and now the account receives mails.

Now it is clear to me. After receiving the mail, the server analyzes the
mailproc.tab and since it is empty (no commands) it decides to delete the
mail. I don't known if this is a wanted behavior or not, in any case I
thought it is useful for everyone to know.
