What kind of video card do you have? Do you know what the color depth is
set to? Does this happen for any kind of game you try to run?

I have:
[kevin@slackware:~]$ which X | xargs ls -l
lrwxrwxrwx   1 root     root           11 Apr 29  2001 /usr/X11R6/bin/X ->
XF86_Mach64

it's an ATI Rage Pro 3D.

It's working when I launch X with 32bpp. I got the error when I launch X
with only 8bpp.
It's not working when I launch it in Xvnc with 32bpp. Is it possible to
remotely play with xmame?

thanks.
