The nice thing about ext3 is that if you need to hit the power switch, 
rebooting is much, much faster, since it doesn't have to go through a 
lengthy fsck of the partition.  It makes testing like this a lot nicer.

Converting a filesystem from ext2 to ext3 is really quite easy (and you 
can always switch back to ext2 if you need to).
