Well, I can only confirm that qmamecat works fine with xmame 0.59.1 ! Both the current stable version (0.43) and the latest development versions (0.44.x). BUT it's based upon Qt, NOT gtk+... qmamecat-0.43 requires Qt 2 (supports Qt 3 as well), qmamecat-0.44.x _requires_ Qt 3 (it's worth it !).
