You know, personally I think the framebuffer is a better way to go, and I've talked to the main xmame maintainer about makeing it possible to have a video option like the "mplayer -vo vesa" option although the mplayer guys were not willing share the code due to mame's current license. It would be nice to implement something like this, then people who choose not to use X can have a "good" alternative with xmame. I'm sure someone could produce something like this but I'm not the person, due to lack of programming skills. Now the "fbdev" thing I've never able to have gotten to work, also due to lack of knowledge about it. But mplayer & gens works fine in framebuffer mode, and I run a 1600x1200 virtual console (most of the time). End rant starz _____________________________________________ Free email with personality!
