I was about to say that these speeds were absurd, but I figured I would
try first and see what I got before I commented. Sure enough, I got
HORRIBLE speeds, in both xgl and xv. I was thinking, "That's strange, I
remember getting MUCH better speeds than that in far more complex
games", so I ran some benchmarks tests using ssf2. Found the problem
(for me anyways). Bad frameskipper. I had my frameskipper set to 0
(DOS frameskipper). With the DOS frameskipper I get a framerate of
about 20/60. When I switched to the barath skipper (frameskipper 1), I
jumped up to 60/60. Same thing with gyruss. I get 60/60 using either
of xv or xgl now in gyruss. However, yes, rotation IS still broken in
xgl. This is in the works I believe (whole new blit core). I tried
hacking at it myself...well, more correctly I opened up blit.h, saw
several hundred lines of really ugly defines and closed it back up and
tried to forget about it :)

So, Lawrence, what's up with the DOS frameskip code? Should we maybe
get rid of it, or are there cases where it does make sense?
