Okay, so I've mailed a few times before to talk about going to conventions like Philly Classic (http://phillyclassic.com), but this time I want to actually talk about something that I can somewhat relate to the mailing list here, and I'll try to make it as painless as possible. =]

Last year I went to a convention called MAGFest, and it really rocked. Some videogame cover bands (like the Minibosses, if you've heard of them) came, and it was a blast. Then the inevitable happened. The guy running MAGFest wanted to go back to school, and a few other guys that helped couldn't help out in 2003.

I couldn't stand to hear it, so I bought the rights and assets for running the convention outright, and now I'm the chairman guy of a three day PC, video, and arcade gaming party at a hotel.

I think it would be a cool idea to run a discussion panel and have people show off their arcade cabinets, or explain how they did things, or whatever. We can go wild with some of this and make it last an hour or two, and it gives the xmamers on this list (or not for that matter) that can make it a chance to congregate, trade ideas, meet eachother, and just plain have a lot of fun.

It's $25 for the whole weekend, and the only thing that doesn't get you is a room at the hotel (well, and stuff from the dealer room should you want to buy stuff). If you want more info, send me an instant message at "Mr MAGFest", an email with the "magfest" in the subject somewhere, or hop on over to http://magfest.org and check out some of the stuff there.

Sorry if this sounds a lot like an ad, but I really do think people reading the xmame ml would enjoy this. =]
