Gentleman David,

Perhaps we have already gone through our requirements and business process
planning phase. And yet you assumed, we didn't. Actually, you have some good
points and these have already been covered. We are at a point where we know
exactly what we need and thus I asked about the EDI-to-XML translator.

Are there any EDI-to-XML translators (or how does XML/EDI help in this
fashion?) out there that have been successfully implemented?

Appreciate the feedback.

Gentlemen,

What is it you are trying to achieve from the business process
side? You need to ask this FIRST.

Just taking an EDI message and making XML tags structure -
well now - see Betty Harvey's PPT from XML99 on this - its
not rocket science.

The question I have to ask is WHY?! Maybe this is NOT what
you need - but instead some more focused re-use and
re-structuring of your information interchanging.

Understand your business process first - otherwise you will
end up buying snake-oil.

Also - for a formal approach to this - please get involved in
the ebXML initiative that is tackling these issues from the
stance of providing a business functional solution that
people can use to solve the business problems, not
just turning a "white flower" into a "pink one", and calling it a
rose.....

DW.
