Hmm. All PNGs were converted. No SVG. One TIFF was converted but the others (3) were not. At least one PDF was not converted. This might be because the mediaobject (I am using Docbook) contains a PDF and a PNG, (PDF for PDF output, PNG for HTML, but I decided not to bother with HTML output, so I never created the PNG). I can see the PDF in the GUI. I will do some investigation. > >> >> Yes, I am starting to discover that it is not possible to use this software >> for the simplest thing without reading a lot. I understand that there is always a trade-off between power and flexibility, and ease of use. Developers have different ideas about where they want to position their software on the graph.Because your software has power and flexibility, I am able to work around its lack of support for PDF images. If it were easier to use, but lacked the power, I would still have this problem. > > For what you experience, we may want to give up using XMLmind XML > Editor. We understand that very well. I am evaluating XXE. I am already used to creating DocBook documents another way, but right now I do not have a way to give people MS Word documents. The results so far are much better than converting? PDF to Word using Acrobat. The SVGs in my document are DocBook? admonitions, so I can easily set the parameter to use the PNGs instead of the SVGs. > > If we cannot make the Batik image toolkit plug-in for you, I don't see > how a declarative plug-in leveraging the Ghostscript command-line could > work in your environment. > But it works! I am going to investigate the SVG issue later. I ran convertdoc with -v, but all it says is: convertdoc: error: XFC warning: unknown graphic format (src="images/note.svg") (file:/tmp/xxe5736790676269381696/__doc.fo, line #75, column #18062) Is there anything I can do to get more information about why the Batik plugin is not working with my document? It works with? the XXE demo document - I can see the Linux penguin in my Ooo.org output.
