If you want to compile/install a different version of XFree86 | from the one that comes in binary form in your distro all you need is to | follow the distro rules to obtain a proper installation. | | As an example, I build XFree86 rpm packages for my RedHat 7.3 | installation. I use the spec file from the rawhide packages that Mike | Harris maintain as a start to my own custom spec file.
I have built XFree86-4.2.99.2-0.20021122.2 (from Rawhide SRPM) on my Mandrake 8.2 (gcc-3.0.4, glibc-2.2.4-24mdk) I have ATI Mach 64 (Rage Mobility) graphics adapter and XFree86 runs just fine. On the other hand: I couldn't get TinyX (KDrive) running. I invoked /usr/X11R6/bin/Xmach64 from command line (init 3 mode), than swicthed to terminal 7 - saw graphics cursor, than system frozen (I even couldn't swicth to terminal 1 anymore) Does someone has any guides how to run (tune) Xmach64 from TinyX? Are there any TinyX-specific mailing lists out there where issues like this can be discussed? | | Or, if you don't want to make packages, simply look at the install stuff | from the package source (pre/post install scripts, custom files, etc) and | execute it by yourself. | | - Davor | | _______________________________________________ | Xpert mailing list | [EMAIL PROTECTED] | http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert -- Best Regards, Vadim Plessky SVG Icons * BlueSphere Icons 0.3.0 released http://svgicons.sourceforge.net _______________________________________________ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert
