It seems that the file may be corrupted. On the download site md5 checksums are listed. For the your file md5sum xplor-nih-3.6-Linux_x86_64.old.tar.gz should return 7cd1a4088eb32e3f3f5fc06da2cda217 if it is not corrupt.
