Niveditha, Ok, what a mess. cdrw on OpenSolaris 200906 simply says "Segmentation Fault" for either user or root and aborts. Brasero reports the write rate as 0% but still seems to burn the DVD at the normal rate. So I redownloaded 117 and reburnt it but that was completely unsatisfying. du -sh reports it at 3.5 GB so reboot and give it a whirl. DVD boots and runs and we had to the text based installer since the GUI is still broke and from what I've read will stay that way. After a span of time the reload of 117 finishes. Rebooting and the GUI logon screen fonts are still a little squirrely so I'm holding my breath. Exit to console logon, create a user account and return to X. The O looks like someone dropped the tip of phillips screwdriver on some dough and the C isn't much better. Anyways, logon on users. The screen switches to black with the watch and blows right past it. A desktop screen comes up but the usual trio of three icons is non-existant. Oh well. Other than that the default screen looks good. Try running gnu-chess. Yea, that's still broke as well. Hit the application/terminal button and who still shows nothing. Other than that all is well. :-) Not bad for a beta system (it still needs work.) At least ipfilter works. I can still post the X.org file if you want it. alan -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
