Hi

I have some trouble to compile the Xorg distribution for the sparc-platform.
But first I have some general questions about X and sparc:

Is there a Xserver other than Xsun available for sparc?
In the build notes I found this: " Also on SPARCs, you may be able to build
the old deprecated Xsun* servers ..."
This sounds to me that you CAN build the Xsun server, but you don't need to.

Then I read Alans weblog and found the following:
"Many of those (sources) [...] are not completely compatible drop-in
replacements for the Solaris versions, and will not provide an X server usable
on SPARC hardware"

That sounds to me that there isn't a usable Xserver other than Xsun available
and will not be in the next release.
Now what is the case???

Now to my build problems:

After my first run of the build I installed the built binaries and wondered
that there is no Xserver in my /usr/X11R6 directory. So I investigated my
World.log and found out that there are some fatal build errors in the Xserver
sections. The problem is that he searches for a inline file named
sparcv8plus.il which isnt nowhere in the whole tree. But I found a build rule
for it in the xc/programs/Xserver/hw/xfree86/os-support/sunos/Imakefile.
Unfortunately I have absolute no experience with the imake system by now. But I
think the sparcv8plus.il file should be created before it is used for the
compilation.
So whats going wrong here?

My environment is a clean OpenSolaris System, created only from the proto area,
the closed bins and some other needed libraries and programs and of course the
Sun Studio compiler. I build a bunch of other programs before, so there should
be no problem with this environment.
My host.def contains the rule for building the Xsun24 Server.

I wouldt be very happy if someone can provide some infos on how I get this
thing working

Thanks in advance

erisch
